How to Prevent Wrinkles on Face
While wrinkles may be inevitable, there are ways to prevent the development of additional lines and crow's feet, as well as ways to conceal those that already exist.
Keep exposure to the sun to a minimum.
What many people perceive as signs of aging are actually signs of sun damage. Try to avoid the sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the sun is at its hottest. When you do go out, wear sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, cotton blend clothing, and shirts with long sleeves.
Always wear sunscreen.
According to Dr. Sandra I. Read, an instructor of dermatology at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, you should apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 or 30. It is important to use a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection from both types of damaging rays.
Never downplay the importance of a healthy diet.
The foods you eat make a profound difference in your body—both inside and out. Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and seafood. In addition, supplement your diet with plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to improve the overall appearance of your skin.
If you smoke, stop.
If you don't smoke, don't start. Smoking is bad for the skin and brings about premature wrinkling. The skin around the mouth is particularly susceptible to wrinkling, dryness, and a dull appearance due to smoking.
Use a good moisturizer
Dr. Brandt, Ageless Derma and Murad are all excellent moisturizers to try. Use different moisturizers for the daytime and the nighttime. Daytime moisturizers should be light weight and water-based. They should be applied after washing your face in the morning in order to lock moisture into your skin. Choose a daytime moisturizer that contains SPF. For nighttime, choose a moisturizer that is heavier and that protects and moisturizes your skin while you are sleeping. Be aware that changing seasons and temperatures can affect the condition of your skin, and that you will have to change your moisturizer accordingly. In terms of anti-aging skincare, look for 22 moisturizers that contain glycolic acid, retinol, peptides, Sodium Hyaluronate, matrixyl 3000 and Syn-coll.
These ingredients promote the growth of collagen, which combats wrinkles and counteracts free radicals.
